The Saudi international Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) announced the export of its first Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) shipment to the European Markets on Thursday, 7 January 2010 through King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail industrial city. This shipment was produced by the International Vinyl Acetate Company (IVC), a Sipchem affiliate.
Sipchem previously announced on 19 December 2009 the start- up of the VAM Plant.The Vinyl Acetate production started last month with an annual production capacity of 330 thousand metric tons. The feedstock for the VAM plant will be provided internally by other Sipchem affiliates, viz. International Acetyl Company (IAC) thus ensuring an uninterrupted supply of feedstock.
On the occasion of the export of this first Vinyl Acetate export shipment, Engineer Abdullah Al-Saadoon, President of the Acetyls Complex, has expressed his thanks to all company employees for their continued efforts and dedication during the execution phase of the project. He also added that the operation of the Acetyl Complex is considered a positive step towards diversification of the company product portfolio and enhancement of its profitability. In addition, it will also open the door wide for many downstream industries in the Kingdom which in turn will have its positive impact on the expansion and the diversification of end products industries.
