DR. ABDULLATIF M. BHAIRI
Vice President, Planning & Project Development
Dr. Abdullatif M. Bhairi graduated with two degrees from the University of California at Davis USA in July 1974 majoring in chemical engineering and mathematics.
Following his graduation, he joined the National Methanol Company (NMC), Marsa Brega - Libya, the first methanol plant in the Middle East & North Africa, as a Process Engineer. In 1978, he was responsible in establishing New Industrial Gases Company for the production of various industrial gases
Dr. Bhairi earned MS and PhD degrees in 1980 and 1984 respectively, both in chemical engineering in the field of Gas Processing from Oklahoma State University. Following a one year tenor at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, USA, he joined the Research Institute, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals for five years where he was a member of a team studying petrochemical projects suitable for Saudi Arabia several of which were later implemented.
In 1990, he joined Arabian Industrial Development Company (NAMA) as a Project Development Manager where he led his department in setting up a petrochemical complex including Chlorine/Caustic, Soda Prills, Epichlorohydrin and Epoxy Resins among other chemicals.
In October 2000, Dr. Bhairi joined Sipchem as Vice President of Planning and Project Development. He is in charge of developing new projects to meet company’s vision, technology selection, licensing, negotiating Joint Ventures and Marketing/Offtake arrangements for the approved projects.
During his career, he has been involved in licensing and developing over 15 various projects in the chemical and petrochemical fields worth several billion dollars. He also led the negotiations to conclude numerous joint ventures and marketing/offtake agreements. |
