Dr. Franchoan Smit
General Manager, Marketing & Sales
Dr Franchoan Smit graduated from The University of Johannesburg with a PhD degree in Biochemistry in 1993 and a Masters degree In Commerce in 1995.
Prior to joining Sipchem, Franchoan spent 16 years with Sasol, the biggest producer in the world of Fischer-Tropsch liquid fuels and chemicals from coal and natural gas. He worked in many capacities from Sasol Technology (where he also completed a post-doctorate in chemical engineering through the University of Groningen in The Netherlands) to Technical Management in one of the major chemical divisions of Sasol. Since early 2000 Dr Smit was responsible for global marketing and business management in Sasol Chemical Industries.
In late 2009 Franchoan left Sasol to take up tenure at Sipchem as the General Manager Marketing and Business Planning, responsible for the Sipchem Marketing & Services Company.
